Science and Technology Daily News (Reporter Luo Chaoshu) On May 20, a new study on respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in children published by The Lancet showed that in 2019, there were 33 million children under the age of 5 in the world. 3.6 million children were hospitalized and 101,400 died as a result of illnesses associated with RSV infection. It is estimated that RSV infection is responsible for 1 in every 50 deaths in children under 5 years and 1 in 28 deaths in children 6 months and younger.
